The Jumpstart Your Day Forum Celebrates its First Birthday!!
February 28, 2013
Boy, time flies when you're having fun, working hard and reaching business goals! The Jumpstart Your Day Freelancer Forum is celebrating its first birthday today. Founded by writer Mary Ylisela to motivate fellow freelancers and help them build their freelancing businesses, the JYD has proven to be an asset to freelancers who are serious about building their businesses and achieving their version of success. Members enjoy daily motivation, learning opportunities and thought-provoking discussions that lead them to examine the obstacles preventing them from success, while learning how to overcome the challenges and build strengths. For pennies a day you can take advantage of the wisdom, knowledge, coaching, support and camaraderie shared in the JYD forum. See what members have to say about how the Jumpstart Your Day forum has impacted them and their businesses. If you're a freelancer, work-from-home solopreneur or small-business owner who's tired of struggling to make things work, join the forum today and start progressing toward your full business potential!
"Jumpstart Your Day is more than just the name of the forum - it describes the underlying foundation and motivation of the forum's founder, Mary Ylisela, to equip us - the JYD members - with all we need to jumpstart our days, as well as our careers as professional freelancers and/or entrepreneurs. Mary's vivacious personality and amazing insight into the issues that affect our lives, both personally and professionally, have created a professional yet friendly and welcoming community for networking and growing together. One person's success alone is cause for celebration - success in various measures for all the current JYD members in a year's time is testament to Mary's ability to lead by example."
"Shared wisdom has made me more aware of opportunities and showed me new ways of tackling old stumbling blocks. Shared encouragement has given me the necessary prod to get out of my comfort zone and reach a little higher. Shared problems have made me realise I'm not alone, that we all face a similar challenge to make this business work, and given me strength to carry on when I might otherwise have given up. Best of all? Sharing a workspace with dedicated and clever friends who are always generous with their time and knowledge."
"This group is probably the one outside factor I have that has improved my business the most. The group is so diverse that we collectively come up with one or more answers to almost any question or problem. The no-drama attitude of the group is hugely important, as is the "no whining without a solution" policy. I find it really encouraging to see that writers who are, in my opinion, very successful are going through the same exact problems I am on a daily basis. We may all be at different points in our career, but we're all dealing with the same demons. I guess it just boils down to this: When I read Stephen King's On Writing, I was filled with common sense advice and the optimistic feeling that I could actually do this for a living. I get that same exact feeling every day when I come to this group. I wouldn't willingly give it up for anything."
"I joined the JYD group one year ago, feeling like I was stumbling through a dark forest with buried rocks and tree roots threatening to send me sprawling face-first. The rocks and roots were the obstacles to my small business, which had taken a huge financial hit a few months before. I began interacting with the mix of JYD members and sharing my fears and experiences with them. We are a diverse group of friends and colleagues, living in all areas of the world. With two simple, no-nonsense rules, Mary has shaped our little group into small-business owners who actively seek solutions to roadblocks; after we vent, we are required to follow up with a solution to the issue(s). I am excited to say that, from struggling to earn anything, I am now singlehandedly supporting myself, in the space of one year. (Your mileage may vary.) Are there struggles? Yes, and they will be there, regardless. The difference is how I now view and respond to them. I feel much more confident - although there are days I still wake, quaking with fear."
"With the JYD forum, I've grown from a part-time freelancer into a full-fledged business owner, establishing a business that could sustain me for years to come and learning how to make choices that best benefit that business."
"Although I was not here at its inception, I have enjoyed every moment since joining last August. Before joining, I simply looked for titles to write and never thought about what I did as a business. I never kept separate records or thought about tax deductions. I never considered growth as anything more than getting a mill to pay a few dollars more per article. Today, I have more aspirations and I see this as a good way to provide for us should Congress ever decide to axe Social Security. I don't think badly of the mills since I have earned quite a few thousand dollars from them over the past 4 years. However, I'm ready to move on thanks to what I have learned from this forum."
